Jason Smotherman, MD has over 25 years’ experience treating men and women for urology related conditions. He specializes in general urology, incontinence, voiding dysfunction, stone disease, oncology, and sexual dysfunction.
Dr. Smotherman moved to Tucson in 2020 from Honolulu Hawaii, where he was named one of Honolulu Magazine’s Top Doctors for 6 years in a row. Prior to Hawaii, he practiced in Oklahoma for 15 years. He held various leadership positions there: Director of Medical Informatics, Chief of Staff, and Chairman of the Surgery Department. He graduated with honors from Southeastern Oklahoma State with a bachelor in chemistry and biology, before attending the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine for medical school and post graduate training.
He is board certified in Urology with the American Board of Urology and a member of American Urological Association (AUA).
Urology is one of the most sensitive and personal of all medical specialties. Dr. Smotherman believes that the doctor patient relationship is vital to assure optimum outcomes. He strives for relationships based on trust and a personal, mutual understanding of each other’s expectations and goals.
Dr. Smotherman enjoys playing guitar, golfing, and most of all spending time with his wife and 2 sons.

This is the third urologist and office I have been to in the past 20 years. Hands down the best of all types of doctor offices I have been to. Not even close. I didn't know it was possible to see a doctor where all of the staff are friendly and nice and it's not crowded with patients waiting for hours. This place truly sets the standard.

Dr Smotherman is amazing. Caring and thoughtful and took time to explain exactly what was going on and gently coach me on my mindset in the kindest way when I started to get upset and cry about the possible procedures I may be facing. I've never experienced this level of care by a doctor and it made such a difference in my anxiety levels. This combined with his expertise and knowledge is wonderful and I am so very thankful to have him as my doctor.

Dr Smotherman has an outstanding gift of being able to explain complicated medical situations in non-technical terms. My daughter-in-law conferenced in on this meeting, she is an NP is MA, works in management in BCBS, and went thru this same medical situation last year with her father. Her opinion of Dr Smotherman's expertise and interpersonal skills was very high. I am extremely happy to have Dr Smotherman working on my case.

both Rosie and Dr Smotherman were very pleasant to be with. I knew Rosie from Dr Greenberg's office. she had been instrumental in getting catheters for me when i moved to Florida 2 years ago.
